Thing # 3.

Using a blog is a wonderful idea. It keeps students, in this program, connected to other student’s ideas, challenges, and successes in the program! It gives students a common ground to post websites, thoughts, and other program links they find. Not only does it allow someone to compile information, but other students can see it also and comment on the uses of it.

As for using it in relation to my future classroom, I envision having a shared blog where students can post hypotheses, results, and conclusions drawn from experiments. It would be a place for the students to comment on other student’s ideas and discuss how an experiment went, if the results were expected or flawed, if something else happened entirely, and why it happened.

In addition for the students being able to post and share ideas, I also envision it as a place I could post detailed steps on how to use certain programs, such as graph making in excel and other programs that relate to chemistry. I would like it to be something similar to the blog we use for the 23 things, where it is a step by step process and has screen shots so the students know they are on the correct path!

I think using a blog in the classroom is an advanced idea, I just hope that by the time I enter the professional teaching world the internet access problem has been somewhat resolved!
